Katakolon · Greece · View on map
A small port town on the western coast of Greece's Peloponnese and the gateway to Olympia, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. The port itself is compact, but the World Heritage site of Olympia, about 30 minutes away by car, has an ancient stadium, the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, and an archaeological museum. Visitors can also enjoy the peaceful seaside atmosphere and Greek country flavors such as olives and wine.
