Costa Cruises

Lower fares and a relaxed, casual style. Tiers are Cruise Pitta's own grouping, not an official classification.

Costa Cruises is a long-established cruise company founded in Genoa, Italy, in 1948, and is now part of the US-based Carnival Corporation. Onboard, Italian, English, German, French, Spanish and other languages mix in a multilingual atmosphere, and the line is known for strongly Italian-style dining, including pasta and pizza, lively pool decks, and shows in large theaters. As of 2026 the fleet has eight ships: Costa Smeralda, Costa Toscana, Costa Diadema, Costa Fascinosa, Costa Favolosa, Costa Pacifica, Costa Deliziosa and Costa Serena. Between 2022 and 2024, Costa Venezia, Costa Firenze and Costa Luminosa moved to sister brand Carnival Cruise Line, and the oldest ship, Costa Fortuna, is due to leave the fleet in September 2026 after being sold. Ships are generally deployed seasonally: the Mediterranean and Norwegian fjords in summer, and the Caribbean, South America and other regions in winter (no Middle East or Dubai sailings in winter 2026-27). It suits travelers who want to visit many European port towns at a budget-friendly price.

Example question

I am considering Costa Cruises for my first cruise. Explain what to watch out for, what is included in the fare, and what costs extra. Do not guess information missing from the material, and list what I should verify on the official website.
