- Like Rotterdam, it emphasizes Music Walk, with three live-music venues, in a calm and upscale adult-oriented setting. From 2026, it is being repositioned toward European cruises departing from and returning to Rotterdam and Dover, shifting away from its previous focus on North American and Caribbean services.
- Following its shift to European departures, the proportion of veteran cruisers from the United Kingdom and Europe has increased. Like Rotterdam, it mainly attracts passengers aged 50 and over who prioritize music and shore excursions. Japanese passengers are a minority, and there are no departures from Japan.

Common to the three Pinnacle Class ships (Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Rotterdam): shore-power connection equipment has been installed since construction, allowing engines to be shut down while in port to reduce exhaust emissions and noise. Exhaust-gas desulfurization scrubbers are also fitted as fleet standard. Rotterdam's own long-term biofuel trial operation program has not been confirmed for this ship.
