## Overview

- Cruise line: Disney Cruise Line
- Size: Large
- Market segment: Family-focused premium large resort
- Ship: Disney Dream
- Class: Dream class
- Year built: refurbished 2024
- Region: Northern Europe & Fjords, Caribbean & Bahamas

The first Dream-class ship, launched in 2011. Known for the transparent tube-style waterslide AquaDuck that passes through the ship, it represents the generation that established Disney Cruise Line's family-oriented design. After the Mediterranean season, it will move to Southampton in summer 2026 and operate 3-, 4-, and 7-night Northern European and Norwegian fjord itineraries in August and September. It will then return to Florida via a transatlantic crossing, with 3- to 7-night Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral as its focus from fall 2026 through spring 2027. Compared with newer Wish-class ships, its facilities are one generation older, but it has been refurbished and remains an easy choice for its balance of price and experience.

## Boarding, atmosphere, and links

Checked: 2026-07-03

### Boarding and logistics

- Japan departures: No
- Home ports: Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale; regular season; moved from Port Canaveral in 2023), Barcelona / Civitavecchia (May-July 2026; Mediterranean summer season)
- Departure ports: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome)

### Atmosphere and guests

- All ages
- Its Art Deco interior evokes a luxurious 1930s transatlantic liner, with a three-level atrium (lobby) and grand staircase. Unlike the futuristic fairy-tale presentation of the newer Wish class, it emphasizes the elegance of classic ocean travel.
- Primarily families with preschool- and school-age children. During the summer 2026 Mediterranean season, more European Disney fans and multigenerational groups are expected. Concierge suites and Remy are also popular with couples celebrating anniversaries.

[Disney Dream Deck Plan](https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships/deck-plans/dream/) (Unverified) / Checked: 2026-07-03

Equipped with conventional diesel propulsion engines and entered service in 2011. Unlike the Wish class, it does not use LNG (liquefied natural gas) fuel. Since 2020, it has used ultra-low-sulfur fuel (ULSF) to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions beyond international regulatory requirements, and its hull has a special coating that reduces frictional resistance and marine-organism attachment.
